I did a quick, teeny-tiny introduction to ‘Lean’ last week, and my accreditation arrived today.
I really enjoyed the course, which I was able to do thanks to the Welsh Government’s ReAct scheme. It comprised a quick run through of Lean principles and concepts, and was delivered by OEE Training, a fabulous company who absolutely embody the principles they espouse!
Of all the training available, and considering my myriad interests, it might seem like a slightly odd topic to choose, but I’ve been doing a lot of research and thinking around digital transformation recently, and management methodologies are a fairly big part of understanding the field. Thoughts are to look into a range of approaches – I’m currently reading up on Agile and intend to use the second part of the ReAct funding to attend an accredited course when I’m in a new post.
And what of Lean? It’s a great methodology. I think it’s a very useful way of approaching work, providing a systematic yet sensible way of thinking and acting for an entire organisation. I kept thinking about how it might be applied in the community sector to good effect; I’ve never known anything like community for slow pace of delivery and wasteful behaviours!!
